What is airPATH60?

The Miliwave airPATH60 series uses the unlicensed 60GHz band to deliver carrier-grade wireless backhaul and access links — indoors and outdoors — with the throughput and latency profile of a fiber run, at a fraction of the time and cost to deploy.
Unlike low-band wireless solutions that fight over congested spectrum, airPATH60 operates in the 57–71 GHz range. And unlike other 60GHz products that top out at Channel 4, every Miliwave radio supports Channels 5 and 6 — unlocking the upper portion of the band where oxygen absorption drops sharply and range jumps dramatically.
Pair with the built-in 5GHz 802.11ax backup radio and you have a link that self-heals during rain events or temporary obstructions — no truck roll, no support call.

NANO, PRO, and COMPACT radios are interoperable. Run a NANO at the camera end and a PRO or COMPACT at the hub. Need to clear a corner? Add a relay pole — 60GHz is strict line-of-sight, so a single intermediary node bridges two legs a building would otherwise block.

The top two 60GHz channels dodge the oxygen absorption that kills range at the lower channels — so one radio reaches up to 20 km (12.4 mi) instead of roughly 2 km (1.2 mi). Farther reach, fewer towers, cleaner spectrum.

Every Miliwave radio has a built-in 5GHz backup. If rain or an obstruction ever interrupts the 60GHz beam, the radio switches to 5GHz by itself — the connection stays live, then returns to full speed on its own. No settings. No truck roll.
Never fully goes down
When the 60GHz beam is interrupted, 5GHz takes over in real time — a brief speed dip, not an outage. Critical surveillance and operational links stay live through the storm.

Does 60GHz require line of sight?
Yes — 60GHz is strict line-of-sight and cannot pass through walls or turn corners. However, this is also what makes it interference-free and capable of the density that lower-frequency wireless cannot achieve. For paths with a corner obstruction, a single relay pole bridges the two legs cleanly.
What happens in rain or bad weather?
60GHz signals experience rain fade, particularly at longer ranges and on lower channels. The airPATH60 manages this two ways: Channel 5 and 6 support means the radio can operate in the upper band where rain fade is much less severe, and the integrated 5GHz 802.11ax backup radio activates automatically if the 60GHz link degrades — keeping the connection alive with no manual intervention.
How is this different from Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7?
airPATH60 is purpose-built point-to-point and point-to-multipoint backhaul — not a general-access Wi-Fi system. It operates at higher power with directional antennas engineered for link budgets over 1–15+ km. The result is a full 2.3Gbps full-duplex link at range, with no shared-medium contention and no interference from surrounding Wi-Fi networks.
Is 60GHz licensed or unlicensed?
The 60GHz band (57–71 GHz) is unlicensed in the United States and most major markets, meaning no spectrum license is required. Channel 5 and 6 availability varies by region — a Revells engineer can confirm regulatory availability for your specific location.
Can we start with one link and expand?
Absolutely. Most deployments start with a single PtP link for a specific application — a camera run, a building connection — and expand when the performance proves itself.
